Le Baron - Le Sifflet Du Baron

Behind the name le Baron, the genius and highly recognised French musician and organist Benard Estardy made this groovy tropical jam. Other than being a perfect whistling along song, it was also used as a radio theme.

This is some nice nu-balearic stuff from San Francisco. If you imagine that outrun was reinvented with a new soundtrack, I think this track should definitely be on it. Enjoy.

Gabi Delgado - History Of A Kiss

Gabi Delgado was the singer in DAF, the famous German NDW band. In 1983 he made a solo album called "Mistress", an album filled with synthesized steel drums and funky basslines. Very cyber-exotic indeed.

Jimmy The Hoover

Jimmy The Hoover were a British pop band formed in 1982. They had a hit with the song "Tantalise (Wo Wo Ee Yeh Yeh)", but after that, they had no real success with their other singles. Despite their lack of success, the sound on most of their songs, especially the african calypso elements, are very charming and it warms my feet in this cold weather we're having.

Vangelis - Dervish D

Greek composer "Vangelis" is widely known for is movie score for the film "Chariots of Fire" and his scores for "Blade Runner". This however is from the ablum "Spiral", which in my opinion is his best work. Far more danceable and a club hit for the likes of cosmic dj Daniele Baldelli - Whatch him spin the record at a club

Ahmed Fakroun

Ahmed Fakroun, born in Lybia, is an arabian disco and electro pioneer. In the 70's and 80's he spend a lot of time in France, where he recorded "Mots D'amour", a great record filled with oriental disco and electro. These two tracks are my favourites, plus an edit of Soleil Soleil by Prince Language.

Dreamlike land

This here is probably one of my favourites right now. Richard Schneider Jr. from Germany made this warm, dreamy and latin inspired record, "Dreamlike Land", back in 1977. Some songs has spacey synth, groovy bass and long guitar solos, others has latin inspired percussion and jazz smoothing grooves that will bring you straight to the beaches of Rio de Janeiro. Perfect for these early days of fall, and this years last warm sunbeams.
I will only post a couple of songs from the record, but the whole LP is truly great.

Bolero

"Bolero" is originally composed by Maurice Ravel for a 1928 ballet, but in 1977 Gino Soccio and Pat Deserio made a disco synth cover of the piece as a group called Kebekelektrik. The video is made of clips from the comedy movie "10", which is about a middle aged man searching through his mid-life crisis and his sexual fantasies.

Shamall

Powerful german italo disco by Shamall, great song, great hair and super performance. "My dream" was one of their only italo disco singles, later, and to this day, frontman Norbert Krueler started experimenting with prog-rock, krautrock and psychedelich sounds.

I guess, this must be the much better late seventies disco version of the terrible Finish rock group Lordi.

Yummy Moon

Tri Atma was a collaboration between german guitar player Jens Fischer and the indian drummer Asim Saha. Take electronic pop music from the 80's and mix it with eastern inspired musical elements and you will get this sunny song.

I kissed your lips

Kiss is commonly regarded as the mashing of one's lips against another person or object. It can be an expression of love, passion, respect, greeting, good luck, or total barnyard hornlust. It is universally common among all cultures except for Eskimo, a culture so dangerously cold that kissing can result in one's face being eaten by a good friend. Observe this video and learn more about the kiss.

Video and words by Mishka

Gary Wilson - And then I kissed your lips

Ich werde einfach Millionär und kaufe dann die DDR

The video is from the movie "Nuclearvision". I haven´t seen it yet, but it looks very promising. It´s also a great minimal track.

Pink Project

Italian Pink Project was mainly a production team, consisting of Stefano Pulga, Luciano Ninzatti, Matteo Bonsanto and Massimo Noè. In early 1982 they began making mash-ups of different disco acts, some of the very first mash-ups of its kind. What I admire is that no samples where used, every arrangement was re-played, and in "Disco Project" the choir kids where brought in from the international school in Rimini. "Disco Project" is a mash-up of Pink Floyd and two songs by The Alan Parsons Project, it became a huge hit in Italy. After the success with "Disco Project", they decided to make an album only with mash-ups. The album "Dominó" has some truly great moments, but also some lows, like the italo disco version of "smoke on the water"!. My personal favourite is the mash-up between The police and Donna Summer, "Voices of Independence", it got a slow afro-reggae-boggie feel over it I really like. Check out the other mash-ups too, I'm sure you can recognise some songs in there.

Look de Ibiza

I would have liked to experience Ibiza back in the mid-80's, sun, cocktails, naked women and good music. Two of China was apparently bringing the heat to the dancefloor with his version of Los Niños del Parque, and Sandy Marton was at his highest with his well named hit, People from Ibiza. Really good dancefloor classics.

Two of China - Los niños del Parque (Corrida mix)

Sandy Marton - People from Ibiza

The original version of Los niños del Parque was made by the german electropunk band Liasons Dangereuses in 1981. It became an underground hit, and many 80's Chicago house and Detroit techno artists saw it as a big musical influence. Truely pioneers with their style and the song is by far the best version.
